The TARAgram Yatra 2019

TARAgram Yatra is an annual flagship event, organised by the Development Alternatives Group in partnership with international thinking-learning organisations, designed to deliberate on germane issues of development with the mission of inspiring sustainability in policy and practice. Every year, the Yatra brings together experts, policy makers, entrepreneurs, development practitioners, business and community based organisations from India and across the world to discuss issues of sustainability and identify what can we do more, different and better such that India transits to a resilient and inclusive economic development for all.

The theme of the Yatra this year is “Invest for Impact” and will focus on green livelihoods, entrepreneurship and skill building as the keys to sustainable economic prosperity. This year the Yatra is being organised in partnership with Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Green Economy Coalition. How to Scale-up Green MSMEs
TARAgram Yatra 2019 commences with trialogue 2047. It seeks to answer some fundamental questions on crucial role of Green MSMEs in promoting sustainable development. There are limited support systems and functions that nurture the development of green small business in a sustainable manner. This breaks down into exploring the financial, institutional, market and policy means which should work in synchronization eventually encouraging new green ventures and the scaling up of the existing green MSMEs.

Field Visit and Thematic Discussions
The Yatra involves a two day ‘pilgrimage’ by its participants to four sites in different parts of the country to observe development activities that are breaking new ground in ways that are both innovative and scalable. With a mix of dialogue and field visits, the Yatra will assess framework on the development of the MSME sector in generating significant levels of employment across the country. It will showcase models on ground that are addressing the concerns of greening the small enterprise, capacities required for MSME and job creation and the enterprise eco-system to support micro and small businesses at the grassroots.

Technical Sessions & Plenary Session
After the Yatra, we meet in Delhi with eminent practitioners and policy makers to share thoughts on the nature of a desirable development strategy. On closing day of TGY 2019, the Plenary will identify challenges and address the concerns of greening the small enterprise, capacities required for MSME, job creation and the enterprise eco-system to support micro and small businesses at the grassroots. The closing session on the 26th will be followed by a public event on strategies, methods and tools for the “Jobs we Want” through micro-enterprise development in India.
